30x30 Wrap Up - It's Done!

So, in case you are just coming in now, from October 1-30 I put on my own little 30 x 30 challenge in the tradition of fashion blogger Kendi. She is really great at mixing and matching different pieces, and so I thought I'd give it a shot of my own! This is a challenge where you select 30 items of clothing (including shoes) and put together outfits with only those pieces for thirty days. While I missed a few days while visiting friends in California due to the 80 degree weather, I followed the rules completely. Here is a visual recap of all my outfits:
All in all, I'd say it was a success! Let's be real, I am definitely glad to have the rest of my closet back. Yesterday I wore a sweatshirt to class for the first time in a month. It felt good. But the challenge has definitely taught me that the possibilities are endless with just a touch of thought and creativity. If anyone is looking to do a little challenge of their own, I'll be happy to help pick out your 30 items!

As for me, I'll put off another challenge for awhile until all my other clothes and shoes feel properly loved and appreciated. I think my beloved Sambas and track jackets were starting to develop abandonment issues.

30x30 Week 4 Outfits!

Day 1
It's October 30! I have made it through the wilderness and to the other side. (Madonna joke.) I have to say, it wasn't as painful as it sounded! My favorite outfits this week were Days 2, 6, and 7. I'll post a recap of the whole shebang later this week. Now that I did it, I think you can too. I triple dog dare ya.

30x30: Week 3 Outfits!

 Day 1
Week 3 is finished! (I'm doing a 30x30 challenge with my wardrobe this month in case you are confused.) I thought I would be hating this challenge at this point, but I'm still going strong. I have to say, I definitely will appreciate my other sweaters and shoes when this shindig is all said and done. This week, my faves are Day 2 (hence two pictures for that one) and Day 7. 3 down, 4 to go!

30x30 Week 2 Outfits! (Minus a few?)

Hello there! I am back from my wonderful visit to friends in California! I will definitely be posting about that later this week, but I'm holding you all (or maybe just my Mom) in suspense until I get it up. For now, here are my 30x30 challenge outfits. I admit, I had to make a few exceptions with this past weekend. The 80 degree Santa Barbara weather didn't really cooperate with my Midwest-in-October clothing pieces, so there is probably going to be a few days missing. Here are the days I was in Illinois. Days 3 and 5 were my favorite this week fo SHO.

And can I just say that I definitely have a high-heel allergy? Honestly, I'm such a wuss with those things. And they hurt SO BAD. Props to all you divas who pull them off on a regular basis.

30x30: Week 1 Outfits!

Day 1
Drum roll please...the first week of outfits is here! (Here is the challenge I'm doing if you want to catch up.) So far, I've had an awesome 30x30 experience. It IS only 8 days in, but I've had a really good time picking out outfits - it's like an extra little game every morning when I get dressed! I think that thus far my favorite outfit is Day 6 (pictured below), and I was the most nervous to wear Day 7 - rocking those high-waisted, lightwash flares was SCARY. We'll see how next week goes.

30 x 30 Remix: My Picks!

The time has come. From October 1 - October 30, 2011, I (along with some other girls at Trinity) will be participating in my own little version of Kendi's 30 x 30 remix. (Kendi is one of our favorite bloggers - she posts her outfit daily and mixes and matches really well.)

Here's the challenge: you pick out 30 pieces of clothing and only wear those chosen pieces for 30 days, all the while avoiding shopping. It's a cool way to work with what you have. Shoes count. Workout clothes, jewelry, purses, and camis don't count. And since we live in Chicago, I'm not counting jackets/coats that I wear from my car to the classroom building. It's just too stinking cold here to make me suffer without a good jacket. Wanna see my picks? Here they are. I chose:

13 tops

3 cardigans, 1 blazer

2 skirts, 4 pants

6 shoes

1 dress

If my math adds up correctly (which is not always the case) that all equals 30 items. My choices have told me that 1) I apparently like blue, green, and tan, and 2) I shop at target, forever21, and h&m too often. I'll be posting my weekly progress with pictures so you can see what I come up with. Hopefully I can make this work - follow along, make suggestions, and wish me luck if you'd like.

Here goes nothing!
